Cupcake Fondue

Posted on Jan 20, 2013

For Abby’s 9th birthday party, we invited everyone to come skating at our community lake, and then rented out the rec room for pizza, & presents. And a cupcake fondue!

Well. The fondue part was sort of a fail, but I don’t think the kids even noticed, so that was good. The idea was that the cupcakes would be dipped in icing and then sprinkles, but they kept falling off the sticks, or falling apart IN the icing. But, the kids were smart, and just decorated them however they could.

My biggest ‘ah ha moment’ for this whole process was making the cupcakes. Instead of mini cupcake tins, I bought a box of 250 paper cups (the kind you squirt ketchup into at some restaurants), lined them up on cookie sheets, and then squirted the batter into them using ketchup & mustard bottles from the dollar store. Speedy and less messy!

We made about 220 mini cupcakes! And had about 70 left over…oops.
