‘Tis the Season!

Time for studio Christmas Mini-Sessions!

2014 xmas minis

How does this work?

Because  these sessions are scheduled back to back, they are done at a reduced rate, and a $50 deposit is required. You can pay that below.
Your gallery will be posted within a week after your session. You can decide what package you want after you see your images.
In addition to (or instead of) the packages, you can purchase anything else you want right from your secure, online gallery. Canvasses, books, prints, cards and files.
BUT – only digital files, photocards and prints 11×14 and smaller are guaranteed before Christmas. Only digital files are guaranteed for any order received after Dec 13, 2013.

What Should we Wear?

Christmas Pajamas! How fun would that be? How about scarves & mittens? How about your Christmas best? How about jeans and barefeet? It’s totally up to you! I do suggest staying away from logos, but other than that…I’m not picky! And remember, the more stressed you are, the more anxious the kids are. Keep it fun & casual.

Who Can Come?

Up to 5 family members are included in the mini price. This can include pets (please let me know beforehand…hubby’s allergic to cats – I’ll get rid of him!)
More than 5? Please contact me.

Why do Mini-Sessions?

I provide Mini’s at different times throughout the year, to provide everyone the opportunity to get professional portraits done. I provide shorter sessions, and schedule them back to back – to fit in as many families as I can. I usually offer deals as well, and at Christmas the focus is on getting at least one awesome shot to be sent out in your Christmas Cards.

I’d Like to Order Christmas Cards!

Christmas cards can be ordered from me in two different formats: PHOTOCARDS – which are flat, one sided cards printed on photo paper by my professional lab, or FOLDED CARDS – which are printed on Cardstock, with a blank inside for you to write in. For examples of some of my card designs available, see this post from a couple years ago. Custom cards can also be done if time permits. (It can take up to10 days for PhotoCards to be printed, longer for folded).

Best Christmas Gift for your Kids

Best Christmas Gift for your Kids

Posted By on Dec 5, 2012

Want to know what I think is the best gift you can buy your kids for Christmas is?

Their domain.

Sure, it doesn’t look pretty under the tree, and you can’t stick it in a Stocking – but one day, they will thank you.

For less than $10 a year (at GoDaddy.com), you can snap up ‘your kid’s name’ .com or .ca, etc.

I sincerely believe that kids growing up in this day and age will be at a disadvantage down the road if they do not have their own domain. They may need it to market themselves. It could be their online resume, they may want to start a blog, they may become a famous lawyer, athlete or actor and if someone else has their dot com, it could be an issue. It will become their online identity.

You never know when they might need it, and the Internet is valuable real estate. Once that domain is snatched up, it’s hard to get it from someone else.

My son’s .com was already taken, but I did get him .ca. I’m not doing anything with the domains until we need to – so it only costs me less than $10 a year to hold on to them.

If the domain name you want is already taken, you can usually find the name and email address of who owns it at whois.net.

Oh, and while you’re at it…get them Twitter handles too. And Gmail addresses.

Think of it as a Digital Investment!

As a photographer, I spend the entire months of October & November doing family portraits for everyone else. Today, I managed to wrangle up the family to do our photos.
Last year we tried to be a little creative, with the frame in frame shot (so glad I ditched the blonde hair since then!):

The few years prior, we always just did the normal studio shots.

But this year, we decided to do a portrait that showed who we really are. This is what we came up with:

I love it! Below are some other shots we got today.

The ‘Using a Tripod has Some Cons’ shot (cut off the girl’s head):

The famous ‘Hilton Pose’ shot:

The ‘Mom was Posing’ shot:

The ‘Black and White’ shot (this is the one that will be framed for the wall – but in color):

And, the ‘We Tried one with the Dog’ shot (even though the dog wasn’t looking and is cut off…I still like it):

It was first time we had all five of us in the new studio…and I’m a fan! We didn’t even have to use a backdrop (although I did have to airbrush an electrical plug out of some of them!)
